Located near the Miami International Airport, our headquarters boast more than 250,000 square-feet of warehouse, office and showroom space. In addition to the Florida warehouse, Continental Electric also counts with its distribution centers in California, North Carolina, New Jersey & Puerto Rico in order to provide us with the capacity we need to meet and exceed the expectations of our existing and future customers.

When we create a new product, we think of ways to meet our customers' needs. We use market research to help us get an idea of what the customer wants and needs. This research not only helps us to find our customers' needs, but also to find better alternatives than those offered by the competition.

Continental Electric’s merchandising group starts with the most basic store planning solutions: measuring floor space and determining how much square footage is needed for various product categories. Next, they assist with product display, and help with “planograms”, which offer a systematic strategy for making the best use of shelf space.

A store stocked with thousands of pieces of merchandise serves no purpose if customers cannot easily locate and identify individual products. That’s why Continental Electric’s merchandising group is such a critical element of our company’s overall success and the success of our customers.

The marketing group has the responsibility of keeping abreast of industry trends, projecting customer demands and enabling CEM Global to maintain its position at the cutting edge of innovation.

Once a product category manager establishes a need for a specific product, the development of that product begins. While sourcing options are researched, the graphic design team begins its work on package design. Careful consideration is given to package size and colors, as well as presentation of the product on the packaging. As these decisions are being made, user’s manuals are developed and translated into appropriate languages.

Other considerations that influence merchandising include:
  • Fine tuning the merchandise mix to enhance marketability.
  • Expanding the growth of various core products.
  • Expanding to build and improve upon the productivity of factories and suppliers.
  • Maintaining a consistently high in-stock level through accurate forecasting & purchasing.

This information enables our marketing team to accurately determine which products are best suited for any given area. They can also avoid the costly mistake of having a product with minimal demand take up valuable shelf space.
